Introduction
My name is Kimberly R. Ray, and I am an ESL teacher and a graduate student at Kennesaw State University. I am completing a Specialist of Education degree in Instructional Technology. I began the program Summer 2013 and will graduate Summer 2014. I graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary English. Immediately after graduation, I began teaching middle school language arts. After six years of teaching English to students in grades 7th-10th, I transitioned to elementary English as a second language (ESL). I currently teach ESL to elementary students at Cherokee Elementary in Memphis, TN.
The attractive reputation of KSU's Instructional Technology program caught my attention. My ultimate goal is to becomes a teacher that is so amazing, legendary teacher that inspires other teachers and students to become life long learners. ! I believe the skills I am acquiring in this program will help me to accomplish that goal.
This portfolio allows me to demonstrate mastery of the PSC Instructional Technology standards and the ISTE NETS-C standards. As you can see, there are a series of links below the KSU logo that you can visit. Of particular importance is the "standards" link. Under this link, you will see a series of artifacts and reflections documenting the important work I have completed during this program. Each artifact represents mastery of the standard under which it is represented.
My experience at Kennesaw State University has been amazing! I believe I am well-prepared to integrate technology into my classroom and to assist other educators in using technology and providing professional learning opportunities for them.
