3.3 Online & Blended Learning
Candidates develop, model, and facilitate the use of online and blended learning, digital content, and learning networks to support and extend student learning and expand opportunities and choices for professional learning for teachers and administrators. (PSC 3.3/ISTE 3c)
Artifact: Multimedia Design Project
Reflection: The artifact that I have decided to use for this standard is the Multimedia Design Project. I created the Multimedia Design Project during the summer of 2013 in ITEC 7445. The project is a webquest about volcanoes. It is designed for a 5th grade science class.
Standard 3.3, Online & Blended Learning states, “Candidates develop, model, and facilitate the use of online and blended learning, digital content, and learning networks to support and extend student learning and expand opportunities and choices for professional learning for teachers and administrators.” This standard was accomplished when I presented “Weebly Webquest” at the district’s learning day. My professional development session was one of several offered, and teachers had a choice of personal development sessions to attend. My session taught teachers how to use Weebly to design webquest. Teachers learned how to establish a Weebly account, insert pictures, link sites, and publish site.
From completing the Mulitmedia Design Project, I learned one person’s professional growth can impact many. From me learning how to create webquests, students and teachers across the city can benefit. It is important that professional learning never stops in order to remain impactful. Learning how to create this tool and teaching others how to do so has taught me the importance and strength of professional growth.
The work that went into developing this artifact impacted student achievement and professional learning. Professional learning was impacted because teachers were taught how to use technology to offer differentiation. This impact can be assessed through the student achievement that results from teachers meeting the learning needs of all students.
